I planned to make my boy a more complicated bento today, but I woke up late. Therefore I had to do with another speedy bento again!
Besides the bread with butter and jam, I included some chocolate fingers as a bonus for JY. I tied the 3 chocolate fingers together before putting them into the bento and separated the chocolate fingers from the bread with lettuce leaves. In fact the lettuce leaves helped to hold the chocolate fingers in nice position.
As for the happy boy, I made it from bread crust. The details were cut mostly free hand except the hands and the cross buttons which was done using shape cutter. By the way, I used cheese again for the 2 little cross buttons because it was so surprising that last night my boy’s bento came home without the cheese which I used to made up the eyes for Spongebob! He ate the cheese (or accidentally ate it, I wonder….)! So I shall give it another try today. LOL

May be he gave the cheese to his classmate!?
Aileen – Huh, there is possibilities that is true! Maybe should go back and check with him, provided he remembers, haha…
yea yea..agree with aileen..shud be “donated” the cheese to his classmates..:P
i think the crossed cheese will still be gone from today’s bento box..hehe..
波尼 – Let me ‘investigate’ yeah, haha…I think it’s hard to change if you don’t like cheese yeah?
Just cross my fingers that perhaps your boy will voluntary eat the small cross buttons cheese. Lovely! I do like the color of bread crust for the character you made
Lia Chen – I hope so too, then I can make so many things with cheese!! I’m day dreaming, hahaha…
But I love your bento more, so colourful, I should try to find a chance to make bento other than sandwiches or cakes yeah!
great work with the ends of the bread, like the idea v much
javapot – Because my elder son don’t eat cheese, so have to find replacement for that and so far I find the bread crust is the best. Too bad in a loaf of bread there are only 2 pieces of the crust!
Looks like the idea of adding a bit of cheese here and there is working!
I have a suggestion, if you need different tones of bread, you can always get
2 loafs, 1 white and another wholemeal. Store half in the freezer so they
can be kept fresh. Once the other half finished, just take out those from
the freezer.
Angeleyes – Thanks! Just wonder how long the bread can be stored in the fridge? Every time I bought a loaf a bread, it takes us so long to finish it, some times already pass the expiry date!
