15-Minutes Bento (How-To)

My boy requested for only bread in his bento today, so I was thinking that I can take this chance to make a simple speedy bento which did not required any special bento tools at all.

This could be a good start for my dear friends who wanted to start bento-ing but without any gadgets yet. :D

All I needed to make this bento was 3 slices of white bread, some green lettuce, a small sausage, butter, strawberry jam and a small kitchen knife.

1. Cut off the bread crust portion of all the bread slices, and cut the bread into two stripes each following the green line. Apply butter to three stripes of bread, and another three stripes with strawberry jam.

2. Fold the two end of the bread inwards, press lightly to make the bread stay folded.

3. Fold the bread again right at the middle – the bread now become a love shape if you look from top.

3. Cut a sausage into a flower and boiled it. (Only now I realized that I didn’t snap the photo on how I cut the sausage! Next time if I’m making the same sausage pattern again, I shall remember to capture the detail steps)

4. Layered the bento box with some green lettuce and arrange the love shape bread in a circle with butter and strawberry jam ones in alternate manner. And lastly put the boiled sausage right in the middle of the circle.

We are done with the 15-minute speedy bento! Simple and speedy isn’t it? :D

By the way, just a quick update JY’s sealed love shape sandwich bento yesterday. He managed to finish up everything in the bento except the endamame! I was so surprise because I was thinking he will discard the apples instead. The reason being, one of his classmates told him that those endamame are caterpillars! LOL

Deby Suwito – Yeah Deby, I was laughing so loud when he told me about the caterpillar. Kids have great imaginations, and even my boy also dare not eat the endamame when his friends made that comment, until he came home and ask me is that true!
