Flowery Sealed Sandwich Bento

We bought a packet of the delicious Kew Brother’s (我来也) meat floss again for snack yesterday, and I thought I should use that to make sealed sandwich for my boy today since he likes the meat floss a lot.

So far I only invested in one sealed sandwich cutter, which is the Mickey & Minnie Mouse set before I figured out that I can actually make sealed sandwich with just a normal cookies/sandwich cutter. Usually those cookies/sandwich cutters come with one sharp end for cutting and another flatted end for holding. You can use the sharp end to trace and cut the bread while the flatted end to seal it. You can refer to my previous step-by-step post on sealed sandwich if you would like to know more.

This morning I wanted to make my boy some small round sealed meat floss sandwiches, but then I realized that I can only use my round cutter to cut but not to seal because at the flatted end it comes with handle!

Therefore I had to find alternative way to seal the bread. After some thought, I decide to try my luck with small fork, hoping that I can get some pattern on the seal ends too.

Bingo! I love the outcome! Besides sealing the bread perfectly, the fork gave the sealed ends a curvy pattern and I thought that was lovely. How about you?

I put 4 small sealed meat floss sandwiches separated by the colourful food baran in the bento, and only decorated the first one with a small love shape seaweed. On the other side of the bento, there was a cherry tomato and some dried prunes.

That was all for my boy’s bento today. I shall share the steps on sealing the sandwich with small fork soon.

Stay tune! :D

    Hello,

I was googling about lunch box ideas and came across the ‘Bento Box’ and wow – it got me all excited! :) Admired your love and patience for your kids :)

A couple of questions as I am new to the “bento box” -
    1) where can I get the tools you have such as the colorful food barn and etc from KL/PJ?

    2) where do you normally get your bento boxes?

    Thanks and appreciate your feedback

Kelly – Welcome to KidsDreamWork and thanks for leaving us a message! Thank you for your sweet comment!
      My answer to your question:
      1) If you are looking for basic bento stuff, you can find them at Daiso (The Curve or 1U) or 100 yen shop in all locations. As for the tools that is more specific, I usually buy them either online, ask friends to send from Japan or Taiwan where we have more options.
      2) Those normal ones I bought from either Daiso or 100 yen. Those with character shapes I bought mostly online or via friends overseas.
      Happy bento-ing!
