I bought this cute small rectangle bento box from the Clapping March Musician series few days ago and both my boy and I are in love with it.
Actually, I bought not one but a few from the same series because they are too cute displaying on the rack to be ignored.
Stay tune, they will make their appearances in my boy’s bento soon.
Today I made my boy a very simple snack bento with just a hard boiled egg, some rice, a strawberry and some dried prunes.
Last night before JY dozes off, he told me that I could make him anything for his bento as long as the amount of the food is not too much so that he could finish it in time. The little man always worry about not able to finish his food during his short morning break!
I decorated the hard boiled egg into a kitty, using rice & seaweed to make the ears, cheese and seaweed for the eyes, thin slice of strawberry for the nose and some spaghetti stripes for the whiskers. After putting these together, I found the little kitty a little too plain, so I gave him a tiny red bow tie with the ribbon food pick. Surprisingly, it makes a lot of difference with or without the tiny ribbon!
I put a small amount of the light soy sauce in the cute pink rabbit sauce container to go with the hard boiled egg.
By the way, I was delighted to see JY came home with his empty bento box yesterday. He managed to finish all the mini rice balls!

Update: To get a round hard-boiled egg, peel off the egg shell and gently press and shape it with your hands while the egg is still warm.
