I was giving my refrigerator a ‘spring cleaning’ last night and I came across these mini fish fingers in light crispy tempura batter in the freezer.
The first thing that came to me is to use it for my boy’s bento the next day. It would be a good change for his snack besides the usual sandwiches and bun.
I pan fried four fish fingers this morning and gave each of them the bone shape food picks. I was hoping to make them look like mini drumsticks. Do they? My boy would need a little imagination to see them as drumsticks I guessed.
Besides the fish fingers, I steamed some oborotsuki too and give them a little touch up with the spiral seaweed punched out. I included another three skewers of endamame and two fresh cherries to complete the meal.
I hope my boy enjoys his bento today, and wish all the kids and teachers a fun time with their class photo shooting today!
Guessed what, my boy woke up on his own today and the first thing he asked me is to make his hair spiky in the front for the class photo! Oh dear, I could not stop laughing because his hair is shorter than one centimeter, and it is already spiky. What magic could I do for his hair? None!

oh..yummy yummy fish fingers…they do look like drumstick.
Such a cute boy, wanted to gain more attention with the spiky hair…so cute.
Emily – Thanks for playing along with me for the drumsticks!
I have no idea why he suddenly wanted a spiky hair for the photo actually, haha…
this bento seems heavy by sight..haha..hope he don’t get too full before the photo session, else he won’t be able to post on his best!
somehow i felt, JY is moving towards 愛美’s category har? haha..care about his look already in front of the class photo..
波尼 – Actually I thought this bento is a bit heavy too but surprisingly he finished it! Oh yes he definitely belongs to the 愛美’s category! No doubt on that!
With those picks, I think he can right away to imagine that as a drumsticks. Boy usually is not too care about their hair rather than girl … hihihi, he loves perfection for his class photo session
Lia Chen – I think maybe the teacher keep ‘brain-washing’ them few days before the class photo sessions, that they have to comb their hairs, iron their uniforms, and have enough sleep the night before! Haha…
