Yesterday my boy was so happy with his tempura fish fingers snack bento that he requested for the same bento today. He finished everything in the bento box and he told me that all the food were delicious!
Instead of giving him the same snack for two continuous days, I decided to make him baked potato wedges which are less oily today. Nowadays I am trying my best to include more varieties of food in JY’s daily bento.
After baking the potato wedges, I let them cool down before I turned them into a Teddy Bear. Oh yes, Teddy Bear again! I think Teddy Bear is one of the favourite characters in bento, isn’t it?
I used the red and white portions of a boiled artificial crab meat to make the polka dots scarf of the bear and I pinned the scarf to the potato wedges with this lovely flower food pick. The bear’s facial detail was made with the remaining white portion of the artificial crab meat and seaweed. I apply a small amount of mayonnaise to make the artificial crab meats stick to the potato wedges.
Besides the potato wedges, there were also my boy’s favourite fresh cherries and boiled endamame. He never fails to clean up these two if they are in his bento!

波尼 – Hey, great minds think alike! Haha..I actually try to add the hands for the bear but somehow it looks wierd so I end up removed it
I just love the scarf!!
Ming – Yeah, polka dots pattern is my favourite now
Cute hash brown bear!
I lazy to switch on the oven since mine is pretty big so to bake one hash brown waste electricity! heheheheehe
I am contemplating of getting a small toaster oven so it won’t use up so much energy… and more friedly for bento making! kekekeke
Angeleyes – Thank you! Oh yes, I don’t have a conventional oven yet, only oven toaster and the size is just nice to bake small amount of food.
I would have never thought of using hash brown this way. It looks so cute! Definitely catchy for little kids.
Rosebelle – Oh yes, my boy was very happy with the hash brown teddy when he came home that day!
Hmm, so curious to whom it is starring at? The bento chef? Hehehe. Ai Ping, really love the red polka dot-y scarf, so pretty
tatabonita – Thanks Tata! He seems like a worrying bear with that eyes isn’t he? Haha…
The cutest potato wedges I ever see! His red polka dot scarf is excellent and baked potato wedget is better than the fried one. Did you find different level of the crispy with those 2 methods?
Lia Chen – Thanks! Oh yes, I find fried ones are more crispy and tasty, but bake ones are less oily.
This bear is so great, and I love his little crab stick belt. So creative!
Sonoma Bento – Thank you!
