This week is a short school holiday in Malaysia and JY will be at the day care. Hence I made him a bigger bento for his enjoyment at leisure.
According to JY, they are going to the playground this morning for a picnic. Although snack will likely be provided, JY asked an inari bento so I made him a meat floss inari in the form of a tiger.
The ears were made with two slices of boiled sausages, the facial detail with seaweed and the eyes with artificial crab meat. I used a few tiny stripes of uncooked spaghetti for the whiskers.
Besides the inari, I included some slices of carrots cut into sakura shape, three skewers of oborotsuki with endamame, and some fresh cherries in the bento.
Happy school holiday to all the children, and soon we will be celebrating Hari Raya followed by the Mooncake Festival! September is a festival month!
