This is the second Christmas theme bento I made for my boy – a happy snowman bento. This was quite a speedy one because it took me less than 15 minutes to get the bento ready.
To make the quail egg snowman, I secured the two hard boiled quail eggs with a tiny un-cooked spaghetti stripe. The eyes and mouth were cut from seaweed, nose from boiled carrot and I used artificial crabstick for the rosy cheeks and the scarf.
I gave the snowman a cute little blue hat using the hat food pick, and the hands were the bone shape food picks. All these little picks really come handy when I need to make speedy bento.
Besides the quail egg snowman, I cooked JY some Scooby Doo shape pasta as requested. If you follow my blog, you would know that JY loves to eat pasta with furikake sprinkle instead of tomato paste. Hence I put some furikake sprinkle in the small orange colour sauce container so that he can use them for the pasta. I shall buy him some proper seasoning containers one day (another excuse to spend money!).
I completed the snack meal with some dried prunes. Hope JY enjoys his snack later and wishes everyone a great week ahead!
By the way, don’t forget to sign up your kids for the cake pops workshop this Saturday if you would like them to have some fun during this school holiday!

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!
cute snowman!
Sysyl – Thanks!
Cute snowman! Hope he won’t melt until he get eaten hahaha
Have a great week too for you
Lia Chen – Thanks! I guess he doesn’t have the time to melt before being eaten! JY has a classmates who loves quail eggs and sometimes she’ll eat them before JY does so! So JY always requested me to put at least 2 quail eggs in his bento if I were to use quail egg! Haha…
So creative using the bone foodpick as the ‘hands’. I haven’t made any christmas theme bento yet. Still scatching my head lai…
Evelyn – Thanks! That is an easy way out instead of having to make them myself.

A very sweet bento. What is furikake? A happy week to you too
Stretching My Imagination – Thank you! Furikake (振り掛け / ふりかけ?) is a dry Japanese condiment meant to be sprinkled on top of rice. It typically consists of a mixture of dried and ground fish, sesame seeds, chopped seaweed, sugar, salt, and monosodium glutamate. Other flavorful ingredients such as katsuobushi (sometimes indicated on the package as bonito), or okaka (bonito flakes moistened with soy sauce and dried again), salmon, shiso, egg, powdered miso, vegetables, etc. are often added to the mix.
So cute! I really like his scarf
tatabonita – Thank you Tata!
Cute snowman! Wish we can make one here hor? The closest we can do a mini one is to order a ‘kosong’ ice kacang! Lol!
Karen – Haha…yeah totally agreed with you! Even the ‘kosong’ ice kacang, I don’t think it can stand under this hot weather until we form a snowman?
I love the snowman. he’s so cute!
