Happy Monday to everyone and hope you have a great start for the brand new week!
I didn’t made any bento for JY today as we were away from home last weekend and I didn’t managed to get any ingredients needed for making bento. I just packed him some store bought bread for his snack today.
Anyway, I’ll take this chance to share one of the snacks I made for JQ previously. I didn’t make any proper bento for him yet though he started nursery. This is partly because he doesn’t really need any yet.
Another reason is I am a bit worry that he’ll lost my bento accessories like the food picks as he is still too young to be ‘brain-washed’, just like what I did to my elder boy. I am so glad that for almost a one and a half year I am packing him bento, he never lost any single piece of the bento accessories I used for his bento!
All right, let’s come back to the snacks I made for JQ. I try to make something simple which doesn’t require any bento accessories, such as this one – the checkered bunny sandwiches.
I cut some white bread and chocolate raisin bread into bite size pieces and apply butter and jam for the white bread. I just need to alternate them when arranging them into the snack box to get the checkered pattern.
To make the simple snack looks more tempting I use a small bunny shape cookies cutter to cut out a bunny from the each of the top pieces of the bread from the mini sandwiches. I then switch between and chocolate and white bread for the bunnies, and gave the white bunnies some facial detail cut out from seaweed.
Just some simple touch up and JQ was extremely pleased with his snacks, which he always so eager to show his teacher every time I drop him to the nursery.
