Finally I made JY an Angry Bird bento today!
Many of you already know that JY & JQ are big fans of Angry Bird. Needless to say JY has been requesting me to make him an Angry Bird bento ever since but I have been putting that aside in my to-do list until now.
I bought some Gardenia chocolate bread yesterday and I thought the dark colour of the bread should be good for the black Angry Bird which is one of JY’s favourite. I decided to pair the black Angry Bird with the yellow one since I can use cheese for the yellow colour.
I used carrot, crab sticks and seaweed to make detail of the birds and here was how they turned out to be.
Of course I can’t be missing out the green evil piggies in an Angry Bird bento, so I used the green smiling piggy food picks on the pitted prunes.
There were also some fresh cherries and two skewers of boiled endamame to complete the bento.
I made only the black Angry Bird for JQ’s snack but I didn’t take any photo of it since they are just identical.
I took some of JY’s Angry Bird key chains to photograph with the bento. These are just a few from his huge collections of Angry Bird stuff! He has almost a complete series of the Angry Bird key chains (hanging all over his school bag), AB pencil box, pouch, file and he is trying so hard to persuade me to get him the AB soft toys.
Now looking at the photo, I should have wrapped the bread with seaweed to get a perfect black colour for the black Angry Bird. The dark chocolate colour doesn’t really turn out right. Anyway, at least JY recognize it as the black Angry Bird when he saw his bento this morning before I packed them into his bag. Guessed what, the first thing he asked me when his eyes landed on the bento was “where is the little hair of the black Angry Bird?”, and that was how I knew he recognized it, haha…
I didn’t even realize the black Angry Bird has a little hair on it until he pointed it out! So you can judge from here how detail he can go with Angry Bird and that he is really a big fan of the game!
Though there was this small mistake I made, but he is extremely happy with his Angry Bird bento which he has been looking forward for. I think he will have a good time having an “Angry Bird” chat with his friends again during their snack break later.
Well, this Angry Bird bento is a not so perfectly done because I was kind of rushing in the morning. Maybe I shall find one day when I have ample time, I’ll make one again.
Just to share a photo of JQ I managed to capture few days ago when he was so into his Angry Bird game. Take a look how serious this little guy can be when he is playing Angry Bird!
Thinking hard on what step to take…thinking hard….thinking hard….

I’ve seen a few angry bird bentos before, but they’re always using rice balls of some sort. I love that you took a different route with the bread. It really worked out well, and I’m actually glad you didn’t cover the bread for the “perfect black color.”
