We were so glad that JY made it to the Kiddie Sports Day yesterday and had a real fun time there with the teachers and friends!

For the past few days we were so worried about the fever coming back on Saturday, and the boy has been asking again and again if he can still joined the sports day event if the fever persists. Luckily on the big day, besides slight running nose and cough he had no fever. So off we went for the big event!

Just to share some excited moments during the event.

I love the grand opening of the Kiddie Sports Day, where colourful balloons being released to the air.

The kids presenting dances before the sports event started.

Here comes the little boy speeding off from the starting line. You can see how happy he was!

Toward the tunnel he went.

And he was out from the tunnel in no time.

Off he went running towards the teammates waiting for their turn.

Guessed what, JY’s team earned themselves a 2nd runner up in the contest. Now the boy spotted me and he was trying to show off his trophy to me!

Pardon me for the poorly captured photos as that was the best I can do with my dummy point-and-shoot camera far away from the spectator seats!

Everyone had a real great time during the events with lots of goodies and a KFC meal for the kids after the event.

Here comes some photo of my elder boy’s birthday celebration in his kindergarten a week ago.

I am so glad that I managed to steal a day off from my extremely busy work schedule on that week to go to his kindergarten to participate and capture some photo of this happy moment!

While I was sitting there waiting for the celebration to start, all the kids were so excited and keep greeting me as “JY’s mummy” every time they walked passed me and keep telling JY “your mummy is here”. Oh well, at least that shows JY is making friends right?

This is the birthday cake I ordered from a local bakery shop. The cake is a bit out of my expectation because it looks quite different from the sample. Frankly I prefer the sample because that one is much simpler and cute. Anyway, I picked up the cake only on the morning itself so nothing much I can do about it.

Here are some little gifts for all the kids – Ben10 and Barbie watches. Hope they like it!

I tied little ribbons on the Barbie watches packaging.

The Ben10 watch comes with the light picture projection function, which is what excited JY most rather than the watch itself.

This watch belongs to the birthday boy.

This one belongs to the little brother.

And not forgetting the photo of the kids eating the cakes.

I bought these sets of Baby Brain Workout Flashcard DVDs upon recommendation by a friend. These level 1-3 series comes in both English and Mandarin and they are meant for babies, toddler and children from 2 months old to 6 years old.

Initially when I bought the first level DVDs both in English and Mandarin, I doubt that my elder boy will watch them as he is just too active to sit there even for more 5 minutes. But to my surprise, he actually was attracted to the flashcards when I first played them. In fact he was actually reading along with the flashcards (that time he was not even 3 years old)!

Now I started to play the flashcard to my younger boy and looks like he enjoys them too.

The flashcards are programmed into stimulating both the left and right brain with different speeds and ways of the flashcards being shown. Since my boys seem OK with it and I don’t really have time to do the flashcard exercise with my boys manually, I bought all 3 levels in both languages. Oh well, I didn’t play it daily with them, which is supposed to be the way, but once in a while when I played the DVDs, my boys learn something, so why not! LOL

Hope the boys enjoy their flashcard sessions with this DVDs!

I bought JY a wooden workbench toy few months back. He love the workbench so much as he can act as Bob The Builder, one of his favourite cartoon characters and assemble the workbench then use the tools to play building.

Yesterday, I was so surprise with what he has done using the wooden pieces. Look at the photo – a robot! He turns his workbench into a robot!

But he told me this is not a robot, he is Sid from Ice Age (he love to watch Ice Age and he especially loves Sid saying the phrase “I Love Kids!”)

I feel that these kind of constructive toys are really good in stimulating a kid’s imagination, besides training their hand and brain co-ordinations.

I bought Boggle Jr. for JY as his birthday present this year after reading some very good comments and recommendations made on this educational game for preschoolers. I have to admit that I totally agreed with them, the game is marvelous! It let your preschooler learn their ABC in a fun way. This easy version of the terrifically popular adult Boggle uses pictures and matching games to allow children to make the connection between objects and their names.

After tested it out with JY, I bought another set as a present for my 5-year-old niece CW, and she love it so much too! Further more, when your kids have out-grown the vocabularies, I guess you can even make your own picture/word cards with more complicated words to replace the existing set.

The product description:

“Can you spell ‘CAT’? Let’s learn how! Here’s a specially designed Boggle game that helps preschoolers learn their ABCs! Boggle Jr.’s easy matching games teach young children letters, spelling and reading, all while they’re having fun! The game is meant for 1 or more players. The package includes Boggle Jr. game tray, 30 picture/word cards with 60 three and four-letter words and eight letter cubes.”

Here are some words from the manufacturer:

“This preschool ABC learning game grows with each child! Match letter cubes to picture/word cards in 2 multi-level games. Games introduce letter and word recognition, matching, spelling and memory.”
