I am really glad that he is adapting well to the new environment, and very happy with the new school.

Everything seems so interesting to him, especially the canteen. He is really fascinated by the fact that he can now buy food from the canteen all by himself!

Therefore for the past weeks since school started, I didn’t make him any bento as I thought it is a good chance for him to learn and fit himself into the new environment. I give him some pocket money every day and keep educating him to choose some healthy food from the canteen. It was a fun process as every day when he comes home, he will tell me what he bought and that gives us a chance to discuss about whether the food is good to take or otherwise.

He failed to get himself any food from the canteen on the first 2 days, and the biscuits I packed for him as backup became his ‘life saver’ food.

Anyway, I was caught by surprised last night when he suddenly asked me why I didn’t make him any bento for so long! I was doing spring cleaning on the cupboard where I keep all the bento gadgets and I guessed that triggers him on bento again.

I have nothing much to use for the bento as I didn’t anticipate making any bento especially today is the last day of school before the 1 week break starts for Chinese New Year. Hence I can only make him a very speedy bento today by using whatever food I have at home.

It was a simple mini meat floss sandwich bento. He requested for a hard-boiled egg too, and I put in some prunes to fill up the bento box. I am glad that I have some nice dragon food picks to decorate the bento so that I can call this a Chinese New Year theme bento. I purposely used the bunny sauce container for the soy sauce since the Rabbit will hop out in few days’ time and the Dragon is gliding in!

I bought some cream puff for the boys’ snack last night. I realize that the spider web like pattern on the cream puff is just so perfect for the Halloween theme bento. Therefore I decided to reserve two for JY’s bento today.

Thanks to all the handy cupcake decoration gadgets, I made a super speedy Halloween bento today.

I topped the two cream puffs with these cute Jack O’Lantern cupcake decorators, a creepy spider cupcake decorator on top of the cheese cubes, and the bone picks on the pitted prunes.

I didn’t have to do any cuttings for the bento and it took me merely 2-3 minutes to assemble all and take the photo.

Both the kids spent a great time with their grandparents, aunty and uncle whom came to visit us. They had brought along with them lots of presents for the boys. Too many of the goodies that I am still trying to give them one by one until now!

After a week’s holiday break both the boys were so reluctant to return to school. So I decided to make them speedy kyaraben bento each on the day when school re-opened, just to cheer them up.

I made them Stitch sandwich bento with the Stitch cookies cutter/mold that I bought some time ago. Handy cookies cutters/molds are among the gadgets besides food pick that I find really useful when it comes to speedy bento.

JY had a full portion of the bento which consists of two Stitch sandwiches, two strawberries and some pitted prunes. I made a lighter version for JQ with only two Stitch sandwiches and a strawberry.

Hope the boys will get over their blues soon and enjoy their schooling life!

First I must give my sincere apologies to everyone especially those whom have posted me questions for taking so long to response. I hope the information doesn’t reach you too late by the time I answer your questions.

Last week was a ‘speedy bento’ week because I didn’t make any kyaraben bento at all. Whenever it comes to speedy bento, nice food picks and food barans always are my rescuers. I can always count on them to brighten up the bento without much effort. All I need to do is to choose the right design with the right colours to go with the bento.

Here are some speedy bentos decorated with food picks and food barans.

I chosen the pink and white bunny picks to match with the pink and silver cheese cubes for the above bento.

I especially like 3D food picks when it comes to speedy bento because they make the simple bento looks more elaborated instantly. Here are some of the lovely food picks I have in my collections. They are just so cute aren’t they?

Okay, I know I haven’t been updating this blog for ages, not to say visiting other blogs. I just can’t find the time to do so (what a bad excuse yeah). Looking at the number of spam comments flooding in, I almost gave up going through them to indentify some valid comments but deleted all! Please pardon me just in case if I accidentally deleted your comments which are valid. By the way, I really wanted to thank all of you for still popping by and leaving me messages even when I was away!

Though I didn’t update the blog, but I still make bento for my boys at least two or three times a week if not everyday.

If you wonder what I mean speedy bentos, here are some of the many speedy bentos I made for JY.

Bento #1: Meat floss flowery sealed sandwiches, pitted prunes, strawberries and cheese cubes. Check out the step-by-step for the flowery sealed sandwich here if you are interested to make one, they are pretty easy to make.

Bento #2: Mayonnaise egg sandwiches, pitted prunes, cherry tomatoes and some bonus marshmallow.

Bento #3: Chocolate Swissroll, giant size strawberries, pitted prunes and cheese cubes.

As usual, I just decorated these bentos with all sorts of cute handy food picks, cupcake decoration picks and food baran, and they turn out quite decent too, aren’t they?
